The blind men and the elephant
A review of Newton's 2011 investment conference
November 2011
At our annual investment conference in London in November, we explored a number of significant transitions that we see taking place in the world. Among other changes, we believe these areas of transition are likely to entail a world characterised by:
- less debt
- a more balanced global economy
- a higher cost of energy
- an older population
- a greater degree of connectivity
With reference to the story of The blind men and the elephant, we discussed the implications of these changes and explained how our themes have evolved to reflect them.
If you were able to join us in November, I hope that you find this report a useful précis of the presentations. If you were unable to be there, I hope that you enjoy reading about the topics we covered. All of the presentations were filmed and can be viewed at www.newton.co.uk/conference2011
